Sir,

I am writing on behalf of Palampur Welfare and Environment Protection Forum which is a registered body for the betterment of environment in Dhauladhar hills, Kangra valley, India. We have come to know that Om Power Corporation, which is executing 15MW project on Neogal river near Palampur town has applied for carbon credits under the CDM mechanism. Our strong feeling is that this project does not deserve any funding on account of carbon credits as it has brought degradation and misery to this once beautiful landscape. I am attaching herewith, five documents and a few photographs containing news items written by me and published in various news papers during the past two years. The company has played havoc with the nature, destroyed natural water resources, damaged drinking water supply schemes, indulged in illicit felling of forest trees etc. The attached images depict a picture of total destruction/erosion in the area adjacent to where the project is being built.

I, on behalf of our forum and the beleaguered citizens of Palampur area, again request you to study all aspects before taking a final decision on this matter.
