CDM Designated National Authorities Forum (CDM DNA Forum)4-6 October 2007, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism established the Designated National Authorities Forum (DNA Forum)
in response to a request from the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP)
at its first session. The COP/MOP requested the Executive Board to broaden participation in the CDM, including through
regular meetings with a DNA forum.
The DNA Forum is to provide opportunities for DNA representatives to exchange views,
share their experiences relating to the CDM and bring forward common views and issues to the attention of the Executive Board.
The third meeting of the Forum was held from 4 to 6 October 2007,
at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Ababa (UNCC-AA) in Ethiopia.
The aim of the DNA Forum meeting in Africa is to embed the Forum in the capacity building
initiatives planned and prepared in collaboration with UN agencies and other developmental “actors” under the umbrella
of the Nairobi Framework (NF). The activities will mainly aim to implement processes, means, facilities, programs or
other resources to help the DNAs to prepare individuals, national governments and local communities, to develop ability
to perform specific tasks related to promote CDM-related project activities.
The closing date for registration to attend the third CDM DNA Forum meeting to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is Tuesday, 18 September 2007.
