Call for input on the draft revision of the methodologies "AMS-II.J., AMS-III.AR., AMS-III.G., AMS-III.E. and AMS-III.H." (09 to 24 September 2014, 24:00 GMT)
The SSC WG sought inputs on the top-down revision of the approved methodologies:
- “AMS-II.J: Demand-side activities for efficient lighting technologies”
- “AMS-III.AR: Substituting fossil fuel based lighting with LED/CFL lighting systems”
- “AMS-III.G: Landfill methane recovery”
- “AMS-III.E: Avoidance of methane production from decay of biomass through controlled combustion, gasification or mechanical/thermal treatment”
- “AMS-III.H: Methane recovery in wastewater treatment”
The revisions are part of the work on "Simplification and streamlining of methodologies, tools and standards" (MAP project 223), included in the 2014 workplan of the SSC WG.The draft revisions include:
a) AMS-II.J.: Demand-side activities for efficient lighting technologies
- Further clarity in unique marking requirement for the project/PoA;
- Simplification of testing requirements for project lamps;
- Simplification of emission reductions calculation (in particular, extrapolation of monitoring results of the first batch of installed lamps to the whole project);
- Criteria for automatic additionality consistent with AM0113;
- Expansion of applicability to include switching from incandescent lamps (ICLs) to light-emitting diode (LEDs) as well as switching from compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) to LEDs;
b) AMS-III.AR.: Substituting fossil fuel based lighting with LED/CFL lighting systems
- Further clarity in unique marking requirement for the project/PoA;
- Simplification of emission reductions calculation (in particular, extrapolation of monitoring results of the first batch of installed CFLs/LEDs to the whole project);
- Revision of the minimum quality standards for lighting products;
c) AMS-III.G.: Landfill methane recovery
- Simplified additionality demonstration;
d) AMS-III.E.: Avoidance of methane production from decay of biomass through controlled combustion, gasification or mechanical/thermal treatment
- Introduction of supressed demand scenario;
e) AMS-III.H.: Methane recovery in wastewater treatment
- Simplified additionality demonstration.
Stakeholders were invited to provide their inputs on the draft revisions of the methodologies, as contained in annexes 17 - 21 of the report of the 45th meeting of the SSC WG. Stakeholders were invited to provide their inputs in the commenting table found here.
The scope of the public input shall include but is not limited to text highlighted in the draft revised methodology.
The call for inputs from stakeholders was open from 09 to 24 September 2014 (24:00GMT).
The public inputs will be taken into account when preparing the draft revised methodology to be recommended to the Board at a future SSC WG meeting.
