Call for inputs on the PoA development tool (excel-based tool for the development of digitized methodology-specific PoA-DD and CPA-DD forms) (1 to 21 September 2015, 24:00 GMT)

The UNFCCC secretariat is seeking inputs from stakeholders on the PoA development tool that was developed following the EB mandate to the secretariat to develop digitized methodology-specific project design document forms for project activities and program of activities for three specific methodologies and road-test the concept in consultation with the Meth Panel, the SSC WG and stakeholders.

The PoA development tool aims to reduce the complexity of preparing PoA-DDs and CPA-DDs by limiting required inputs from project participants to key project information, i.e., the purpose of the project and project design elements such as technology, scale cost target users and the “baseline” situation or how the service is provided in the absence of the project. Based on the user inputs, the Tool selects the appropriate methodology, performs the required calculations and generates the outputs in the prescribed PoA-DD and CPA-DD forms. A tutorial video is also available and provides more background information and details on how the Tool works.

The Tool is initially designed for the application of the small-scale AMS-II.J methodology, i.e., for the replacement of incandescent lamps with energy efficient compact fluorescent lamps or CFL. Stakeholder inputs will be useful to guide further work in expanding the Tool to other methodologies and to transform this Tool into a web-based system that will enable PPs to submit the required information and generate digitized methodology-specific PDDs online.

Stakeholders are invited to provide their inputs on the PoA development tool by answering the questions listed below, which are also available here

The scope of the public input shall include feedback on technical issues in operating the tool and the generated PoA-DD and CPA-DD templates.

To start using the PoA Development tool, please download the files here. Please save all three files in the same folder, to start working, open the file named “PoA developing tool.xlsm

The tutorial video is available here.
