Call for input on the draft revision of the methodology "AMS-III.Z.: Fuel Switch, process improvement and energy efficiency in brick manufacture" (12 to 27 November 2014, 24:00 GMT)

The SSC WG was seeking inputs on the top-down revision of the approved methodology:

“AMS-III.Z.: Fuel Switch, process improvement and energy efficiency in brick manufacture”

The draft revision was carried out in response to MAP project 110 on ”Implementation of standardized baselines”, as per the 2014 SSC WG workplan. The proposed revision allows the application of the methodology in combination with the standardised baseline under development (“TSB0002: Brick sector emission factor for Peru”).

The draft revision allows non-renewable biomass (NRB) as an eligible baseline fuel type, and applies the emission factor of NRB used in AMS-II.G. Additionally, the SSC WG also recommended considering the option to limit the brick producer to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in case NRB is involved.

Stakeholders were invited to provide their inputs on the draft revision of the methodology, as contained in annex 17 of the report of the 46th meeting of the SSC WG by using the commenting table found here.

The scope of the public input shall include but is not limited to text highlighted in the draft revised methodology, as contained in annex 17 of the report of the 46th meeting of the SSC WG.

Furthermore the SSC WG is inviting input on the following issues:

  • Should a different emission factor for non-renewable biomass be considered for the case of brick production?
  • Should the applicability of the methodology be limited to SMEs in case non-renewable biomass is involved?

The call for inputs from stakeholders was open from 12 to 27 November (24:00GMT).

The public inputs will be taken into account when preparing the draft revised methodology to be recommended to the Board at a future meeting.
