Call for public input on the draft revision of "ACM0015: Emission reductions from raw material switch in clinker production" (current title: "ACM0015: Consolidated baseline and monitoring methodology for project activities using alternative raw materials that do not contain carbonates for clinker production in cement kilns") (12 to 27 February 2014, 24:00 GMT).

The Methodologies Panel sought inputs on the top-down revision of "ACM0015: Emission reductions from raw material switch in clinker production" .

Stakeholders were invited to provide their inputs on the draft revision of the methodology, as contained in annex 9  of the report of the 62nd meeting of the Methodologies Panel.

The scope of the public input shall include but is not limited to text highlighted in the draft revised methodology, as contained in annex 9 of the report of the 62nd meeting of the Methodologies Panel and specific questions below:

  1. Will this revision make the methodology practically usable for Greenfield plants? If not, what further inclusions may be required?
  2. Are the default values used in the methodology (0.50 t CO2/ton of clinker for calcination and 3000 MJ/ton of clinker energy consumption in kiln) sufficiently conservative based on practical experiences? Other suggested conservative values are welcomed.
  3. What are typical energy efficiency measures that can be implemented in the cement plants, with approximate estimates of savings?
  4. What will be the approximate magnitude of leakage that can occur as a result of using the methodology in real cases?

The call for inputs from stakeholders was open from 12 to 27 February 2014 (24:00 GMT).

The inputs from this call will be considered at the sixty-third meeting of the Methodologies Panel.
