( i ) WB's Host Country Committee
provides a supplemental platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing and
networking amongst African DNAs (e.g. Regional Meetings in
conjunction with HCC Annual Meetings; (ii) DNA Regional Workshop
planned for DNAs of the Southern African Development Community
(SADC) in Gaborone , in partnership
with the Development Bank of Southern Africa .

6.2 Regional
events: Promotion of CDM opportunities |
Assist countries in presentation of CDM project portfolios
and related investment and development opportunities. |

( i ) WB supports participation of African
countries as exhibitors in the Global Carbon Expo 2008 .

Bankers 2008 ', a matchmaking event for regional financial sector
and project developers targeting Western african countries

component in Lighting Africa project.

6.4 CDM potential
assessment in differents sectors |
CDM potential assessment in biofuels sector. |

Biofuels sector – ethanol, bio-diesel, cogeneration
– is an emerging sector in Africa
with vast potential. This sectoral assessment will look at both eligible
CDM projects in the production of bio-fuel from esters and production
of ethanol from sugar-based products. Apart from making an estimate
of the overall potential, the study will make recommendations to overcome
the technical and methodological barriers. To be launched in the second
half of 2007. |
