CDM beneficiaries meet with MEPs at European parliament

People who have benefited from CDM projects around the world traveled to Brussels to meet with European parliamentarians and explain how their lives have changed thanks to the CDM. The event "Meet the Beneficiaries", organised by the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) in collaboration with the UNFCCC secretariat, took place at the European Parliament on 1 March 2012. "The CDM has proven that it can change people's lives for the better," said John Kilani, Director of the Sustainable Development Mechanisms programme at the UNFCCC secretariat. "It is now more clear than ever that the challenge of climate change will continue to drive mitigation action, including the development of market-based approaches. In this respect, the CDM will continue to be an important tool to stimulate investment in climate change mitigation and development."
