CDM Registry


    Accounts


The CDM registry is made up of four account types in accordance with decisions from the COP/MOP and further guidance provided by the Executive Board (EB).


    Pending account
The main account in the CDM registry is known as the “Pending account”. This is the account where CERs, lCERs and tCERs are issued upon instruction by the EB and therefore contains all those units that have been issued and not yet forwarded to the holding accounts of project participants...       more >>

    Adaptation fund account
Decision 17 CP/2001/13/Ad.2 states:

(a) That the share of proceeds to assist developing country Parties that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change to meet the costs of adaptation, as referred to in Article 12, paragraph 8, of the Kyoto Protocol, shall be two per cent of the certified emission reductions issued for a clean development mechanism project activity.

    Temporary holding accounts
The CDM registry has established temporary holding accounts for project participants with authorisation from an Annex I Party (country) wishing to receive CERs and whose national registry is not yet connected to the ITL. ( http://unfccc.int/resource/docs/cop10/02.pdf paragraph 57)...       more >>

    Permanent holding accounts
Following further guidance provided by the EB, the CDM registry also allows project participants registered in a CDM project activity with authorisation from a Non-Annex I Party to open a holding account where CERs, lCERs and tCERs can be received for the subsequent forwarding of those units to the holding accounts of project participants with authorisation from an Annex I Party.
