for new CCS WG

18 May 2012 -The CDM Executive Board has launched a call for experts to become members of the newly established Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage Working Group. The call starts 18 May 2012 and ends on 10 June 2012 24:00 GMT. Interested CCS experts should apply online after logging in via "My CDM/ login".

CDM benefits

Bonn, 17 May 2012 - Eight new videos highlighting the benefits of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) are now available for online viewing. One video titled “Trees of Life”, features an afforestation/reforestation project in Ethiopia, where lives are being improved by a community-wide effort to restore the local forest.

Bonn, 11 May 2012 - The CDM Executive Board at its 67th meeting decided to consider a further step to streamline project assessment to make small scale projects more attractive, a move that could greatly extend the benefits of the CDM.

New procedures enhance efficiency of the CDM

Bonn, 30 April 2012 - CDM project participants can now request private telephone consultations with the secretariat to clarify issues identified during assessment under the new CDM Project Cycle Procedure. These calls, together with improved opportunities for rectifying documentation issues, should significantly improve clarity, transparency and efficiency in the CDM assessment process.

Loan scheme launched to boost CDM projects in LDCs

Addis Ababa, 19 March 2012 - The CDM Loan Scheme, aimed at helping to support CDM projects in least developed countries and countries with less than 10 registered CDM projects, was launched this week during the African Carbon Forum being held in Ethiopia.

CDM reaches milestone 4000th registered project

The CDM has registered its 4,000th project, a wind power project in India that expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 21,800 tonnes a year. "The CDM continues to evolve and improve, and deliver on a scale well beyond initial expectations," said UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres in celebrating the milestone.
