View allBonn, 11 May 2012 - The CDM Executive Board at its 67th meeting decided to consider a further step to streamline project assessment to make small scale projects more attractive, a move that could greatly extend the benefits of the CDM.
Bonn, 30 April 2012 - CDM project participants can now request private telephone consultations with the secretariat to clarify issues identified during assessment under the new CDM Project Cycle Procedure. These calls, together with improved opportunities for rectifying documentation issues, should significantly improve clarity, transparency and efficiency in the CDM assessment process.
Addis Ababa, 19 March 2012 - The CDM Loan Scheme, aimed at helping to support CDM projects in least developed countries and countries with less than 10 registered CDM projects, was launched this week during the African Carbon Forum being held in Ethiopia.
The CDM has registered its 4,000th project, a wind power project in India that expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 21,800 tonnes a year. "The CDM continues to evolve and improve, and deliver on a scale well beyond initial expectations," said UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres in celebrating the milestone.

Radio journalists will be given the chance to promote their work and enter a contest to win various prizes, including a possible free trip to the UN climate change conference. Radio stations can select from a wide variety of broadcast-ready radio packages distributed for free.
Under the Clean Development Mechanism, emission-reduction projects in developing countries can earn certified emission reduction credits. These saleable credits can be used by industrialized countries to meet a part of their emission reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol. more »
