Call for experts (Meth desk reviewers)
In accordance with the "Procedures for submission and consideration of a proposed new methodology" agreed by the Executive Board, whenever a proposed new methodology is submitted to the secretariat, CDM Meth Panel may select two methodology experts from a roster of experts, to be maintained by the secretariat, to undertake a desk review to appraise the validity of the proposed new methodology.

- Selection process for a desk review
- A desk review has to be undertaken for each proposed new methodology
- Experts who are in the roster of experts may be selected for a desk review to appraise the validity of a proposed new methodology
- The selection of desk reviewers is the responsibility of the CDM Meth Panel
- Work conditions for a desk reviewer
- Being included in the roster of experts does not imply that the expert will undertake a desk review
- The amount paid for a "lead" desk review is a daily fee of US$400 for three days (total amount US$ 1,200) and for a "second" desk review is a daily fee of US$400 for two days (total amount US$800)
- The selected expert has ten days to undertake the desk review
- The "Independent contractor agreement for CDM methodology experts (desk reviewers)" can only be made between the UNFCCC and an individual (desk reviewer)
- The terms of payment will be effective, according with the United Nations Rules and Regulations, after satisfactory submission of the recommendation to the Meth Panel by using the corresponding forms in the identified period of time (10 days).
- As the contract can only be made between the UNFCCC and an individual, the account to which the fee should be transferred needs to be in the name of the Desk Reviewer

According to the
Decision 3/CMP.1 (735 KB),
the Executive Board may establish committees, panels or working
groups to assist it in the performance of its functions. The Executive Board
shall draw on the expertise necessary to perform its functions, including
from the UNFCCC roster of experts. In this context, it shall take fully into
account the consideration of regional balance (Rule 32 of the rules of procedures of the Executive Board)
