CDM Call for experts: Meth Panel, A/R WG, SSC WG and Specialized Experts / New SSC Methodologies submitted / Other methodological issues

(1) CDM Call for experts: Meth Panel, A/R WG, SSC WG and Specialized Experts

The CDM Executive Board, at its forty-fourth meeting, agreed to open several calls:

Three calls for the replacement of outgoing members of its methodological panel and working groups:

- CDM Methodologies Panel (Meth Panel) members
- CDM Afforestation/Reforestation Working Group (A/R WG) members
- CDM Small-Scale Working Group (SSC WG) members

One call for specialized expertise in the following specific technical areas: coal mine fires, iron and steel industries, adipic acid production, transport, SF6, uncertainty and landfill aeration. These skills are for the assessment, further understanding and development of CDM methodologies and those approached by the secretariat if deemed suitable and selected, cannot be members of the above panel and working groups, at the same time.

The calls are open from 17 December 2008 and end on 22 February 2009, 24:00 GMT

(2) Methodologies

The following proposed new methodologies were sent from the Meth Panel through the DOE to the project participants to invite clarifications to the preliminary recommendations and technical clarifications to the following proposed new methodologies were provided:

NM0265: Reduction of flaring of COG through conversion into dimethyl ether to be used as fuel in Shanxi, China.
NM0277: Recovery and Use of Gas from Oil Wells – Reduction of Gas Flaring by the Compression of Low Pressure Gas for Productive Use at the Libwa, Tshiala and GCO Offshore Oil Fields, Democratic Republic of Congo
NM0278: Use of Charcoal from Renewable Biomass Plantations as Reducing Agent in Pig Iron Mill in Brazil
NM0280: Installation of zero energy water purifier in India

(3) SSC Methodologies

(a) The following proposals on new SSC methodologies have been submitted to the CDM Executive Board for its review and are available for public input from 17 December 2008 - 02 January 2009:

SSC-NM018: Switching from fossil fuels to biomass residues or other renewable fuels
SSC-NM019: Transportation Energy Efficiency Activities using Retrofit Technologies
